Small Business Week, originally created by the U.S. Small Business Administration more than 60 years ago, is a nationwide effort to celebrate and support local businesses. Pasadena’s participation marks its entry into the longstanding tradition of recognizing the vital role small businesses play in the economy.
“Small Business Week is a celebration of the entrepreneurs who serve as the heartbeat of our community,” said Economic Development Director David Klug. “We are excited to recognize their vital contributions to the City of Pasadena while providing the resources they need to thrive. Whether it’s navigating procurement or inspiring future founders, our goal is to help every local business start, scale, and succeed.”
Logix Federal Credit Union, the presenting sponsor, emphasized its commitment to local economic development. “At Logix, we’ve always believed that our success is mirrored in the success of the communities we serve,” said Carlos Alvarado, Pasadena Branch Manager. “Small businesses are the heart of Pasadena. We are honored to support this inaugural Small Business Week and provide the resources, connections, and support entrepreneurs need to thrive.”
The week will include three primary events:
- May 5: Partner Pasadena: Navigating the Procurement Process — a free webinar open to local business owners, offering guidance on vendor registration and bidding for City contracts.
- May 6: Grow Pasadena: Valued Pasadena Partners Breakfast — an invite-only event with Mayor Victor Gordo focused on digital growth strategies and networking opportunities.
- May 7: She Builds: From Idea to Empire — an invite-only gathering connecting female students with women entrepreneurs for mentorship and storytelling across industries.
City officials say the events are designed to equip participants with practical tools, expand networks, and inspire the next generation of business leaders. Sign-up at this link.
