A new shop has opened on East Holly Street in Pasadena: MesmerMesmer, a clothing, accessories, fragrance and jewelry store that also serves as an event space. On Sunday, Sept. 27, at 4:00 pm, the space will host “In Situ: A Music and Art Collaboration,” featuring visual art and live music.

The event brings together Colombia-based string quartet Cuarteto Peregrino and visual artists Carolie Parker, Danny Shain and Ruth Trotter.

Cuarteto Peregrino is made up of Mimi Jung, violin; Carlos Andrés Parra Suaréz, violin/viola; Paula Casteñada, violin/viola; and Diego Hernández, cello. The group, known for its innovative programming and interpretations, will perform “The Americas,” a program featuring works by composers from North and South America. Composer and conductor Valentín Bravo will provide an introduction.

Parker, Shain and Trotter are Los Angeles-based artists who have exhibited widely. Their work in painting, drawing and ceramics will be displayed during the performance.

The event brings together two disciplines that share a focus on abstraction and expression.

Mesmer Mesmer’s event space will be hosting arts and film events as well, which can be found in full on their Events page.
