In the wake of City Manager Miguel Márquez’s retirement announcement, the Pasadena City Council has begun the search for the city’s next leader.

To assist in this process, the Council has partnered with WBCP Inc., an executive search firm, to lead the recruitment efforts.
The City Council is actively seeking community input on the key qualities and skills the next City Manager should possess. Residents are encouraged to take part in shaping the selection process by completing a brief survey. The feedback will help identify the attributes, leadership qualities, and technical strengths that are most important for the City’s future.
Pasadena is offering surveys in multiple languages to ensure accessibility for all members of the community. The surveys are available in English, Spanish, Armenian, and Chinese (Mandarin). All responses are anonymous and will be used to develop interview questions and inform the selection process. The deadline for survey participation is Monday, January 26, 2026.

In addition to the community surveys, applications for the City Manager position will be accepted until Thursday, January 29, 2026. Following the close of the application period, the most qualified candidates will be invited to interviews in early March.
