The City of Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) is continuing to expand its community outreach initiative, “Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor,” with its next stop scheduled for District 5 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The event will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Villa Parke Community Center and is open to all residents on a drop-in basis.

Held in partnership with the Housing Rights Center, the program is designed to bring housing counseling directly into neighborhood spaces, making it easier for residents to access information and support without needing appointments or traveling to city offices. The upcoming session will coincide with Villa Parke’s weekly Farmers Market, allowing residents to stop by while already participating in community activities.
“Chats & Snacks” has previously been hosted in February and April, and city officials report continued strong community engagement. The initiative focuses on reducing barriers to housing assistance by meeting residents where they are—in parks, community centers, and other public gathering spaces.
At the June 30 event, Housing Counselors will be available to answer a wide range of rental housing questions. Topics will include rent stabilization regulations, allowable rent increases, tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, mediation services, and access to housing resources. Counselors will also provide guidance on key tenant protections, including disability accommodations, source-of-income protections, and safeguards for immigrant tenants.
All services are free of charge, and no appointment is required. Assistance will be available in both English and Spanish, and informational materials, snacks, and light refreshments will be provided to attendees.
The City emphasizes that the program is part of an ongoing effort to rotate outreach events across Pasadena neighborhoods every other month, expanding access to housing education and support throughout the community.
Residents seeking additional information about “Chats & Snacks” or other services offered by the RSD can contact the department at (626) 744-7999 or RentStabilization@CityOfPasadena.net.
