PASADENA, ColoradoBoulevard.net:
Michelle Perera, Pasadena’s Director of Libraries and Information Services, has resigned her position effective February 16, 2022.
By News Desk
Michelle joined Pasadena as the Director of the Pasadena Public Library on December 19, 2016. Since then, she has “built a strong staff and overseen continued development of programming at Central and the branch libraries.
In a letter to City Council, Interim City Manager, Cynthia Kurtz, said:
The past few years have not been easy for any of the department Directors, but the Library was especially hard hit by COVID because it was required to shut down most of the public operations as residents have come to depend upon them. Then, just as the libraries were beginning to reopen, we received the shocking announcement that Central Library was in need of major seismic repair and had to be closed.
Michelle was a strong leader through all these trials and has helped build a strong foundation for the future, which will lead to a renewed commitment to library services as well as rebuilding the Central Library to serve Pasadena for the next Century. We thank her for this, we will miss her and we wish her well in her new appointment.
Michelle Perera has taken a position with the City of Sunnyvale.

A continuing problem was the number of homeless who kept filling up the libraries. The stench can be awful. Her staff never did anything about it.
