The Pasadena Police Department has released a Critical Incident Video related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sept. 7, 2025, in the department’s parking structure at 240 Ramona St.

According to the department, the incident involved Pasadena police personnel and resulted in injuries to one officer, who has since recovered.
The video includes mobile camera footage, a statement from Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris, and additional information intended to provide context about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In the video, Harris said the shooting resulted in the injury of one of the officers and stemmed from officers engaging in unsafe, out-of-policy horseplay involving loaded firearms.
Officials said the public release was delayed to allow investigators to complete key investigative steps and protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. California law requires law enforcement agencies to publicly release audio and video recordings of critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings.
The incident remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities said investigators continue to review all available evidence, including video recordings, witness statements, forensic evidence, and other relevant information.
The department said the Critical Incident Video is intended to help the public better understand the circumstances surrounding the event.
