On August 8, 2023, at 1:11 am, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to the 2000 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue regarding a “Fight with Shots Fired” call and a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female at an apartment complex who had been shot. Pasadena Fire Department paramedics transported her to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Tynisha Houston, a Pasadena resident.
The suspect, a 54-year-old Pasadena resident, was located within the same apartment complex a short time after the shooting and was detained without incident.
Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery / Homicide Unit (RHU) responded to the homicide scene for immediate follow-up investigation. During their investigation, RHU detectives executed a search warrant and recovered a firearm.
The identity of the suspect and details surrounding the shooting will be withheld for the time being as detectives are still actively investigating this homicide.
