On March 26, 2025, at 6:16 pm, officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded to a single-car collision in the 700 block of Rio Grande St. Upon arrival, they discovered a male inside a vehicle that had crashed along the north curbline.

The male had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was unresponsive. Officers, assisted by paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department, attempted life-saving measures. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit (RHU) and an investigator from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner quickly responded to begin the investigation.
The victim, a 19-year-old resident of El Monte, has been identified, though his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
