The Pasadena Police Department honored community volunteers for their service during its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at Brookside Golf Course.

Chief of Police Gene Harris and department members recognized volunteers whose service has ranged from one year to three decades. Family members, friends, department personnel and fellow volunteers attended the dinner.
“Our volunteers serve an indispensable purpose for the department, supporting our officers and staff both in the field and at headquarters,” Harris said. “They give their time not because they have to, but because they choose to serve, and we are truly grateful for their dedication.”
Among those recognized was Otis Triplett, known by his Community Assisting Pasadena Police (CAPP) call sign, “854.” Triplett has served as a Pasadena Police Department volunteer for 30 years and was one of the original members of the CAPP program.
Harris presented Triplett with an award recognizing his three decades of service, leadership and dedication.
The department’s Volunteer Services Section is made up of community members who assist the department in a variety of capacities. Volunteers help with special events and programs, support officers and staff, and help strengthen relationships between the department and the community.
The annual dinner gives the department an opportunity to recognize volunteers for their contributions and the time they give in support of the Pasadena Police Department and the community.
