When officers arrived, they noticed the U-Haul had been involved in a minor collision. Officers woke up the driver, who was asleep behind the wheel, and asked him to exit the vehicle. As he exited, officers saw a handgun in the driver’s waistband. The driver ran from the officers but was detained following a brief foot-pursuit. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered. Police searched the U-Haul and located an AR-15 ghost rifle, two loaded high-capacity magazines, and body armor.
The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Marc Oliver David, a Carson resident. David was booked at the Pasadena Police Department Jail on multiple felony charges; to include weapons and narcotics violations and no-bail arrest warrants.
Police Chief, Gene Harris said:
Our Patrol Division and our Street Crime Unit are committed to neutralizing the impact of illegal guns, and gun related criminal behavior. In this case, with body armor, high-capacity magazines, significant criminal history, and the precarious circumstances, I am of the opinion Pasadena officers prevented potential catastrophic violence from occurring in our community.”
