Upon arrival at the scene, officers founded a male victim, who had been shot several times. Witnesses told officers that an armed male suspect ran from the scene. The suspect carjacked a vehicle from a female, but ultimately fled on foot when officers arrived. Officers gave chase and an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) of the suspect occurred. At one point during the incident, the suspect took a second female hostage at gunpoint. The hostage was rescued, unharmed.
Pasadena Police Detectives and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate this incident. In an effort to provide members of the community with a clear understanding of the events that occurred, the Pasadena Police Department is releasing several videos and audio recording on the Pasadena Police Department’s website, (click to view) or under the “Critical Incident Briefing” section.
Because the incident lasted for approximately 15 minutes, covered a several block area and consisted of four different crime scenes, each video is accompanied by an explanation of the content to help guide viewers through the correlating videos.
