Newly appointed Pasadena Chief of Police reaction after watching the video of the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols, the 29-year old man who died after a traffic stop by the SCORPION unit of Memphis police.
Following the events in Memphis and upon viewing the video footage, I am compelled to send thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted in that community.

Though force is a tool sometimes necessary in the application of the community protection mission, we are held to a higher standard. We must continuously pursue the highest level of police performance, professional conduct, and best practices as we serve our communities.
The men and women of the Pasadena Police Department are committed to providing policing and other community services with efficacy as we apply the “legal, moral, ethical, safe, and within policy” standard. Additionally, we will remain committed to the highest levels of training and hiring standards to ensure effective policing in all cases, including and especially in police use of force.
I encourage community members to contact my office directly with questions or concerns.

Can u address the killing of Charles Towns who was shot five times in the back while his hands were up in the air the sheriff had no reason to shoot and kill that man where is the body cam of that killing
Shame on you,not quite the response you should have made or stated. Like it or not enough is enough, The killing of our black men has become a sport again just like SLAVERY.
Completely unacceptable statement! Was this written by an attorney? His first instinct is to defend the use of force.
This is ridiculous! Your message should have been loud and clear, the unequivocal condemnation of the acts of violence and behavior of those police officers against another human being. Anything less, and your statement is certainly less, is part of the problem
This is so sad and unethical my stomach hurts after watching this video, and what makes me even sicker is the swift action on finding justice when it’s a black man opposed to white police it is so disgusting adds insult to injury referring to the Rodney King beating this needs to stop I have a black son and he serves and I fear for his life every time there is death of a back man in the hands of the police it seems more and more everyday across america. Say what you say take action sir.
