The two entities will compete for the prestigious BNP awards in the final round scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

The BNP awards recognize the exceptional efforts of governmental organizations, businesses, and corporations across the United States that work to improve their communities and neighborhoods. The competition features two main categories: Physical Revitalization/Beautification and Social Revitalization/Neighborliness.

The Pasadena PPD and PPL partnership, known as Books N’ Cops, began as a 10-month initiative running from January to October 2024. The program brought together the local police department and library system to host unique monthly events at Pasadena’s public libraries. The program aimed to build a stronger connection between the community and law enforcement, while offering interactive, educational, and engaging activities for all age groups—from toddlers to adults.

Key goals of Books N’ Cops included fostering collaboration between the PPD and PPL, as well as educating the public on various PPD divisions, such as K-9, Detectives, Forensics, Motors, Dispatch, and more. The program’s emphasis was on cultivating positive relationships between Pasadena residents and their police department.

The winners of the 2025 BNP competition will be announced on Saturday, May 25, 2025. As the finalists prepare for the final competition in Jacksonville, community members can look forward to more Books N’ Cops programming in the future.
