Hi Folks, Bentley here with an important message: The pets of Pasadena are barking loud and proud this June, “Adopt us, San Gabriel Valley!”
By Bentley
This Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Pasadena Humane is rolling out the red carpet, and waiving adoption fees, as part of the statewide California Adopt-a-Pet Day.
This fur-tastic event is hosted in partnership with CalAnimals, the SF SPCA, and the ASPCA, and features more than 150 participating shelters from across California. Their mission? Find forever homes for 5,000 lovable pets. That’s a tail-wagging goal, and Pasadena Humane is ready to do its part.
“This event coincides with the onset of our busiest season,” says Chris Ramon, Interim President & CEO of Pasadena Humane. “With so many animals in our care, there are a lot of great choices available for families looking to adopt.”
And “great choices” is putting it mildly. From goofy golden retrievers and snuggly tabby cats to quirky guinea pigs and cuddly rabbits, the shelter is bursting with furry personalities eager to join your pack. Even better: adoption fees are 100% waived for the day.
First Come, First Served
But don’t paws too long, adoptions are first-come, first-served, and the early birds (and early barks) are likely to get scooped up fast. Of course, standard screening still applies, but Pasadena Humane works hard to match you with a pet that fits your lifestyle like a paw in a glove.
They did with me!
Still Need a Reason to Adopt?
My colleagues come with built-in benefits: they’re spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. That’s a smart, safe, and adorable addition to any household.
Last year was paws-itively amazing, over 3,000 of my friends found forever homes during the very first event. I still remember the wagging tails (for those who have them!) and happy tears! This year, Pasadena Humane is going for an even bigger fetch, and we’re all hoping to break that record and find even more loving families.
Could one of them be yours?

Bentley says: “Come on, San Gabriel Valley, let’s make tails wag and hearts melt. Because love is just a paw away. Woof.”
Bentley was adopted in 2021. He is currently out of work due to complications from TACO and the seesawing tariffs.
