      PASADENA – ColoradoBOulevard.net:

Pasadena Media announced that Producers George Falardeau, Monet Bagneris Tolbert, and Kevin Bruce have received a WAVE award for Pasadena Media’s special edition of Arroyo Live highlighting Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) voices.

      By News Desk

The award was presented by the Alliance for Community Media West Region (ACM West) at its annual awards program in San Jose, CA on Friday, April 1st, in the “Underserved Voices (Professional)” category.

The winning program was a panel discussion that aired March 25, 2021, and featured prominent community leaders Gene Masuda, Mercedes Cook, Esq., Keira Kang, Hyepin Im, and Arnold Lee, Esq. The Arroyo Live episode was moderated by Bryan Takeda and created a safe space for Asian American and Pacific Islanders to share their voices and sentiments about actions against their communities, raise awareness about AAPI plight and resilience, and celebrate AAPI communities as a means of combating discrimination.

“This kind of programming epitomizes the true power of community media to provide a platform to underrepresented populations. Part of our mission is to inform the public about these prevalent societal issues in order to promote positive change in the community,” said George Falardeau, Executive Director CEO of Pasadena Media. “We are very proud to be a partner in producing this important content and thank ACM West for their recognition.”

Bagneris Tolbert created the concept for this special episode and assembled the panel to represent the diversity in the AAPI community. Bagneris Tolbert said, “In all I do, I desire to bring people together, enable people to feel seen and heard, and create a better world and future for the next generations. I appreciate George Falardeau for seeing my vision and securing the top notch, all-star Pasadena Media team to help carry it out.”

“I want to thank Executive Producer Monet Bagneris Tolbert and Pasadena Media CEO George Falardeau for the opportunity to lift up the voices and experience of the AAPI community who often get left out of many rooms and places,” said Hyepin Im, President & CEO of Faith and Community Empowerment.

The Alliance for Community Media is a national network of TV and radio stations and PEG access advocates whose mission is to promote free speech and greater civic engagement through community media. The WAVE [Western Access Video Excellence] award winners represent the best of community media programming from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico and Nevada.
