Pasadena Public Library is expanding curbside pickup service to seven of its branch libraries.
By News Desk
Curbside pickup service will be available Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at Central Library and Allendale, Hastings, Lamanda Park, La Pintoresca, Linda Vista, San Rafael and Santa Catalina Branch Libraries.
How it works
Library patrons are able to pick up previously-reserved materials at their neighborhood branch. Patrons are contacted individually via email or phone when their reserved materials are ready for pickup, and then provided instructions as to when and where to pick them up. Upon arrival at the designated library site, patrons are directed to either call or text library staff to alert them of their arrival. Using appropriate protective equipment, including face coverings and gloves, library staff then place the reserved materials on a table and step back, allowing the patron to step out and pick up the materials. Materials can also be returned in the nearby library book drops.
Director of Libraries and Information Services Michelle Perera, noted that 437 patrons picked up 1,139 items during the program’s initial launch at Central Library. She added:
This pilot project has been very successful thanks to careful planning, guidance from the Pasadena Public Health Department, and cooperation from the community with contactless pickup. Library staff are thrilled to be able to provide this service to the community.
For library holds only
The curbside pickup program is for library holds only. Patrons may reserve library materials for curbside pickup online at pasadenapubliclibrary.net using their Pasadena Public Library card number.
Numerous library materials are also available virtually, and staff are providing reference service via phone and email. Contact library staff by phone at (626) 744-4066, option 7, or email at ask@cityofpasadena.email.libanswers.com.
All Pasadena Public Library buildings remain closed to the public until further notice. This closure is a precautionary measure to protect our community members from novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
