The City of Pasadena Public Works Department is kicking off public engagement for the Jefferson Park Stormwater Capture Project Feasibility Study with its first community outreach event on Thursday, March 12.
By News Desk
Residents are invited to join a guided walking tour at Jefferson Park, located at 1501 E. Villa St., from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, beginning at the picnic tables at Monte Vista Street and Hamilton Avenue.
The 45‑minute walk will include several stops throughout the park, giving attendees an opportunity to discuss neighborhood needs, ask questions, and offer input on current park conditions. Community members will also be able to sign up for future project updates as the study progresses.
The outreach effort is supported by a $191,180 Public Education and Community Engagement grant awarded to the City in June 2025 through Los Angeles County’s voter‑approved Safe, Clean Water Program (SCWP). The funding is dedicated to ensuring that residents play a central role in shaping the project’s direction and design.
The Feasibility Study will examine options for both underground stormwater capture infrastructure and above‑ground park improvements. Potential enhancements include new recreation areas, play structures, outdoor classrooms, and expanded urban greening. The study aims to improve stormwater runoff management and support water quality compliance while identifying meaningful upgrades to the park’s amenities.
Thursday’s walking tour marks the first in a series of bilingual community engagement opportunities planned for the coming months. Additional activities will include pop‑up events at the park, meetings with interested groups, community surveys, and collaborations with local partners to ensure broad participation.
