As part of the honor, Jasmine received a scholarship and two airline tickets to Washington, D.C., where she will attend the official congressional award ceremony. Her winning artwork will also be displayed in the U.S. Capitol complex for one year alongside selected works from congressional districts across the nation.
The recognition marks a significant achievement for both Jasmine and the Pasadena Unified School District community. Representing Pasadena High School on a national stage is considered a tremendous honor, particularly during her first year participating in the competition.
Jasmine said she felt overwhelmed and overjoyed upon learning she had won. She had looked forward to entering the Congressional Art Competition throughout middle school and had hoped for the chance to compete once she reached high school. Winning first place in her debut year exceeded her expectations.
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual nationwide program that recognizes and encourages artistic talent among high school students across the United States.
