Pasadena High School Seniors, Jaimyn Drake and Tosten Pearson were named National Merit Finalists!

      By Elizabeth “Liz” Champion

      Jaimyn Drake

Jaimyn Drake is a senior in the App Academy, and a Math Academy student by transfer. At PHS, he leads and participates in a variety of clubs, including the Robotics Club, Astronomy Club, Math Club, Science Olympiad, and Tutoring Club. Outside of school, he practices as a taekwondo instructor (third-degree black belt) and plays the piano.

Jaimyn has applied to many UC schools and a number of prestigious private universities, and is seeking a degree in Computer Science with hopes of a career in commercial research and development.

      Tosten Pearson

Tosten Pearson has been Vice-President and co-founder of the Science Olympiad Club/Team and a writer for the Pasadena Chronicle, the PHS school newspaper, since freshman year, and this year as Editor-in-Chief. Outside of class, his main activities have been summer internships at Caltech and serving as a Volunteer Leader at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens.

After graduation, Tosten intends to major in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering at a four-year college, after which he plans on earning a graduate degree.

Elizabeth “Liz” Champion is the Registrar at Pasadena High School.

Oh my gosh! They’ve both done internships with us at Caltech! So happy to see them on this list!
