Pasadena Acting Health Officer, Dr. Parveen Kaur, issued a health officer order, mandating annual influenza (flu) and updated COVID-19 vaccinations for health care workers.

The Pasadena Public Health Department PHD encourages everyone to stay up to date on both COVID-19 and flu vaccines.
To get the updated COVID-19 vaccine, uninsured or underinsured individuals can visit the County of Los Angeles Vaccination Sites website, and insured community members can schedule their vaccine appointment by visiting the Albertsons pharmacy website or Vons pharmacy website. “COVID-19 and the flu remain a concern for all Pasadena residents, but these viruses pose a more significant risk to the health of residents who have underlying medical conditions or need to access health services in medical facilities where the risk of exposure is higher,” said Dr. Kaur.
Health care workers who do not receive both vaccinations by Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, are required to wear a well-fitted mask in healthcare facilities when working in direct patient care areas. Masks are highly recommended for all health care workers. Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) strongly recommends patients, clients, and visitors of healthcare settings to wear a well-fitted mask or a N95, KN95, or KF94 respirator.
Pasadena has a higher per capita population residing in long-term care facilities compared to the rest of Los Angeles County.
“The vaccination and masking requirements required by the health officer order are protective measures which have effectively reduced infection rates and protected vulnerable populations from COVID-19 and flu related complications,” said Acting Director of Public Health, Manuel Carmona.
