      PASADENA —ColoradoBoulevard.net:

Pasadena officials are monitoring Hurricane Hilary and are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

      By News Desk

As the storm continues to advance, city officials are working to prepare for potential impacts and to provide essential resources to the public.

The City encourages the public to stay informed and have essential supplies ready in case of an emergency:

      1. Emergency supplies: The City encourages residents to assemble emergency supply kits that include essential items such as non-perishable food, water, medications, flashlights, batteries, solar-powered USB chargers and personal hygiene items. If you have a pet, make sure you’ve got enough food, water and necessary medicine for them too, along with a pet carrier and items like a leash or litter box. Preparedness kits will help individuals and families sustain themselves during and after the storm. Visit Ready.gov/Kits to view more detailed information about what to pack in your emergency kit.
      2. Sandbags: The City of Pasadena is providing free sandbags to residents and business owners at Pasadena Fire Stations 37 (3430 E. Foothill Blvd.) and Station 38 ( 1150 Linda Vista). Sandbags are limited to 10 per Pasadena resident.
      3. Weather Updates: Stay informed about Hurricane Hilary’s progress through the National Weather Service website and X(Twitter) account. Regular updates will provide the latest information on the storm’s trajectory and potential impacts.

Pasadena residents and businesses with any power emergencies should call Pasadena Water and Power at (626) 744-4673. For water-related emergencies, call (626) 744-4138.  For more information, visit PWPweb.com.

Sidney Jackson, Pasadena Water & Power General Manager said:

We will have extra staff on standby and are coordinating with our neighboring utility companies for crew support if needed.  We also have internal electrical generation available to support the city for local requirements or the state electrical grid operated by the California ISO.”

Pasadena Police and Fire Departments will be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services. For life-threatening emergencies, always dial 9-1-1.

Pasadena residents can sign up for emergency alerts and information. Join the Pasadena Local Emergency Alert System, or PLEAS. Visit CityOfPasadena.net/Fire/PLEAS/ to register today.
