This photograph of Pasadena taken from the hills above La Crescenta shows that, although the air was clear up here at 7:00 am today, a haze was still clinging in pockets around the city and beyond.

Oh, the girl? She’s Emma Shupper who tutors engineering (!) and just happened to come by while I was taking the photo.
This works out well. When my wife asks, “Did you meet anyone while you were out hiking?” I simply say, “Only one person, an engineer.” Why go into details?
