Pasadena Firefighter Armen Hagopian has been named the Pasadena Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year and was formally recognized at the American Legion Pasadena Post 13’s Police and Fire Persons of the Year Awards Luncheon last week.

Armen Hagopian joined the Pasadena Fire Department in 2019 and quickly became known for his dedication to the community. Beyond his work on emergency calls, he has volunteered with Ronald McDonald House Pasadena and supported several local organizations, reflecting a commitment to service that extends well beyond his shifts.
Courage in the Face of Adversity
In May 2025, Hagopian was involved in an off-duty motorcycle accident that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury. His recovery has been marked by resilience and determination, bolstered by the support of his family, fellow firefighters, and the broader Pasadena community.

Department leaders say Hagopian embodies the highest values of the fire service—compassion, courage, and unwavering dedication. His colleagues and community members continue to rally around him as he progresses through his recovery.
