PASADENA – ColoradoBoulevard.net:
Pasadena’s Pedestrian Safety Enhancement at Colorado Blvd. and Fair Oaks Ave. will start on March 7 with an anticipated completion by May 27, weather permitting and without any unforeseen conditions.
By News Desk
The proposed improvements consist of the following:
- Curb extension at all four corners.
- Sidewalk widening at existing bus stops.
- Signal modifications.
- Asphalt pavement overlay at the intersection.
- Utility adjustments and striping.
- Installation of a new scramble crosswalk with stamped asphalt concrete.
The construction hours are from midnight to 8:00 am (Monday thru Friday) except for the demolition work consisting of removal of sidewalk panels and asphalt concrete, which will be between 6:00 am and 11:00 am.
The proposed improvements will take place one corner of the intersection at a time. The Contractor, Calpromax Engineering, will start the curb extension work at the northeast corner (in front of Pottery Barn) on March 7. Once that side of the corner is complete, they will move to the southeast corner (in front of former Chef Tony). After those two corners are complete, the contractor will mobilize over to the southwest corner (in front of Cheesecake Factory), and then complete the curb extension work at the northwest side (in front of J Crew).
Business will be open during the course of construction. The Contractor will install k-rails, construction fencing, traffic control devices, and Business Open signs for vehicles, pedestrians, and shoppers at and around the affected work area(s).

Why not make Colorado Blvd in Old Town a promenade like 3rd St in Santa Monica?
How many times has a pedestrian actually been hit by a car at this intersection? Of those occurrences, how many times was the driver at fault?
One more reason to NOT patronize anything at all in downtown Pasadena — as if I needed any more.
this project moves in the direction of making Colorado an undrivable street……which I actually am in favor of
