Pasadena’s seasonal water conservation rules are now officially in place, as Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) begins its annual two‑day outdoor watering schedule.
By Melanie Hooks
General Manager David M. Reyes announced that, under the City’s Level 2 Water Supply Shortage Plan, residents and businesses must limit outdoor watering to two days per week from April 1 through October 31.
Under the schedule, even‑numbered addresses may water on Mondays and Thursdays, while odd‑numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays and Fridays. To reduce evaporation and improve efficiency, all outdoor watering must occur before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Exceptions are allowed for hand‑watering, tree care, and certain water‑saving methods such as low‑flow drip irrigation systems.
PWP is also encouraging the community to consider long‑term water‑wise landscaping. Through a partnership with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Pasadena residents and businesses can access rebates for replacing traditional turf with drought‑tolerant alternatives.
