Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Pasadena Educational Foundation hosted its Annual Celebrating Our Schools event, entitled “Inspire 2023”.

The “Inspire 2023” event was held in the Pasadena City Hall Courtyard. Students from the Pasadena Unified School District showcased their gifts and talents through the Student Showcase along the perimeter of the walkway.
Altadena Arts Magnet School students sang in French. The PUSD Into the Woods All-Star Musical Cast and Crew; actors, costumes and costume designers, props and prop makers, were on hand to talk about their professional experiences. This included High School students’ sketches, renderings, and the final costume on display, with the designers on hand happy to share in their success.
The over 300 guests were greeted with music from the Marshall Fundamental Jazz Band. Highlights of the evening that included three Teacher Grant Recipients: Principal Brian Stanley, Rose City; Jason Trapp, Octavia E. Butler Middle School; and Regina Major, Altadena Arts Magnet. Then the Exemplary Service Award was presented to Dr. Elizabeth Pomeroy, former PUSD Board of Education Member, Educator, Writer, and Publisher.
The evening closed with an opportunity to give. The goal of the evening was to raise additional funds for future Teacher Grants. PEF had a commitment from Rich Webster of the Webster Foundation for a matching grant up to $75,000 from the Celebrate Our School events. Offers were made and the results are still pending. The Pasadena Educational Foundation has supported PUSD Schools for more than 50 years.
