The Pasadena Bio Cluster Expansion Tour was a big success!

On May 18, Pasadena’s Economic Development Division led nearly sixty cross-sector stakeholders on a tour of some of Pasadena’s key life science institutions.
Leaders in biotech, real estate, workforce and economic development, nonprofit, academia, philanthropy, and government discussed ways to grow Pasadena’s life science industry. The Division and its partners highlighted the city’s thriving entrepreneurial community, transit connectivity, motivated civic leaders, and diverse and talented workforce as key attributes in fostering that growth.
Tour attendees traveled via electric bus provided by BYD and toured Xencor Inc., Protomer Technologies, and Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI).
Cities and Municipalities to Watch For
On May 25, the Pasadena EDD staff spoke as part of the “Cities and Municipalities to Watch For” panel at UCLA’s LABEST Conference, with representatives from the City of Torrance and LA County Department of Economic Opportunity.
The panel was facilitated by Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) CEO Steven Cheung and was organized by the Larta Institute, Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation, and Abbott Construction. Pasadena representatives highlighted the City’s strengths as a key player in the larger LA bioscience ecosystem and discussed collaborating to make the LA region the next big bioscience hub.
