      The Pasadena Baha’i Community is hosting a program and dinner in celebration of Black History Month, on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

      The program is from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with dinner immediately following. RSVP by February 19th by texting 626-818-5116.  The address of the event is 3330 San Pasqual Street, Pasadena, CA 91107

      The guest speakers are Allen Edson and Stephen Barnes with a special musical presentation by Sandy Simmons Williams.

      Allen Edson

      Allen Edson has been the President of the Pasadena NAACP since 2019. He was born and raised in Pasadena. He obtained his Associate of Arts degree in Business from PCC and his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from UC Berkeley. Allen worked for fifteen years in the aerospace industry and for over thirty years in nonprofit management as an executive director with interests in community economic development and environmental justice. He formed an environmental remediation company in San Francisco which was awarded the 2006 Emerging Business of the Year Award. Allen is the father of three children: Ishmael, Khalil and Nadira.

      Stephen Barnes

      Stephen Barnes was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from USC in 1978, and his Juris Doctorate from Harvard School of Law in 1981. In December 2002 he joined Yorn Levine Barnes Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner Endlich & Gellman as a named partner, where he continues to represent music, motion picture and television. Stephen is an active member of the Baha’i Faith. He is married and has two children.

      Sandy Simmons

      Sandy Simmons Williams is a vocalist, writer, songwriter, Reiki Practitioner, Univera Associate, and RN at Vitas Healthcare. She has done background vocals for major artists like Natalie Cole, Brenda Russell, Diana Ross and Michael Bolton.
