The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) sought emergency court intervention to prevent the City of Pasadena’s stop-work notices from delaying soil remediation at affected school sites.

After the legal action was filed, the City confirmed it was no longer enforcing the stop-work notices at 10 of the 11 affected district sites following the PUSD Board’s adoption of Resolution 2896, which exempted those school sites from the City’s zoning ordinances.
According to the district, the City also stated in court that it would take no further enforcement action. As a result, PUSD said it can proceed with soil remediation at 10 campuses, and the stop-work notices at those sites will be lifted.
One site, the District Education Center, remains unresolved, and remediation there has not been completed. PUSD said discussions with the City regarding that site are continuing.
The district said the outcome allows remediation work to continue at the affected campuses while efforts to resolve issues at the District Education Center continue.
