Four PUSD students have qualified to participate in the USA National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships that take place July 24-30 in Eugene, Oregon.

This is a great accomplishment for these student athletes. The athletes must rank in the top 8 in their event for their region in order to qualify for this national championship meet, so the competition is fierce.
The PUSD Athletes who are participating are:
- Destiny Rayburn, Blair
17/18 year old age group, qualified for long jump and 4×100 meter relay - Justin Guerriero, Blair
15/16 year old age group, qualified for triple jump, 4×100 meter relay, and 4×400 meter relay - Joshua Ezieme, Marshall
17/18 year old age group, qualified for 400 meters, 4×100 meter relay, and 4×400 meter relay - Mekhi Corner, Muir
17/18 year old age group, qualified for triple jump and 110 meter hurdles
The athletes are coached by former longtime Muir coach Mike Knowles as a part of the club Elite of Southern California.
The championships will be held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. This world-class facility hosted the senior nationals last week, where athletes were competing to qualify for the world championships.
