In support of Old Pasadena restaurants’ outdoor dining, Old Pasadena Management District (OPMD) announced commUNITY Dining, a communal dining space in three locations along Big Bang Theory Way.

As part of a District commUNITY campaign, commUNITY Dining features posters, window clings, and sidewalk decals of a radiant sun to greet visitors to the district.
The campaign will tangibly come to life for anyone seeking a socially distanced area for coffee or a take-out meal from any of the nearly 200 neighborhood restaurants. It will also provide support to the many restaurants whose location and/or logistics prevent them from taking advantage of street dining. The seating areas are maintained from 11:30 am – 8:00 pm daily with continuous sanitizing.
Dozens of Old Pasadena businesses will display the radiant commUNITY sun graphic in their windows to highlight this solidarity. Key intersections throughout the neighborhood will showcase the artwork on sidewalk decals. Safety signage in city parking garages will be featured to remind guests to maintain adequate distancing while visiting the area.
Janet Swartz, OPMD’s Director of Marketing and Events, said:
We felt strongly that as an organization we needed to boost promotional support to our businesses while simultaneously encouraging city residents to continue to visit our district. In turn, these initiatives had the wonderful impact of strengthening the solidarity we feel here and further cultivated this sense of unity and togetherness – we knew that was an important aspect to spotlight with our new campaign.
The new outdoor dining areas in Big Bang Theory Way are located between Raymond and Arroyo. Visitors are encouraged to visit in the evenings for an especially scenic experience under the café lighting spanning the length of the historic alleyway. Such evening visits will bolster, unify, and sustain more than 300 businesses that call “home” the 22-block historic district.
