The small, eclectic venue welcomes the equally eclectic Non Credo, with guest Marc Doten, on Saturday, September 5, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $20 at the door and are limited due to the venue’s small size; all proceeds support the local artists performing.
Non Credo consists of musicians Joseph Berardi and Kira Vollman. Primarily a percussionist and vocalist, respectively, both push the envelope by playing a wide range of additional instruments. Clarinets, marimbas, accordions, cellos, broken-down keyboards, cheap electronics, and even altered children’s toys are cited as fair game on the band’s website: “Nothing is sacred, nothing is wasted.” They also draw from all styles and eras of music, “from contemporary experimental forms to Saturday morning cartoons, to film scores to pygmy war chants.” Not your everyday concert.
Guest musician Marc Doten is also a local composer and multi-instrumentalist.
With a cooler evening predicted than our current weather, the night should be fine for bringing your own blanket, pillows, and picnic. The venue, located at 1601 East Loma Alta Drive, has no seats, only tiered grass.
The gate opens at 6:00 pm for settling in and socializing, with music beginning at 7:00 pm.
The summer series’ final performance will be on Saturday, Sept. 12 featuring interdisciplinary artist Carole Kim.
