      Southern California Red Cross opened shelters in response to Tropical Storm Hilary. The opened shelters are located in Imperial County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County and Orange County.

          CAL STATE LA CANCELS MONDAY CLASSES::

          From California State University, Los Angeles:

          • Classes will be canceled on Monday, August 21. This includes classes on our downtown Los Angeles campus.
          • Faculty and staff should plan to work from home on Monday. Check in with your immediate supervisor for further instructions.
          • Student services will not be offered in person on Monday, but are expected to resume on Tuesday.

County areas affected are: Long Beach, Malibu, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Universal City, Downtown Los Angeles, Griffith Park, Culver City, Inglewood, Burbank, North Hollywood, Venice, Santa Monica, Van Nuys, Encino, Manhattan Beach, Alhambra, and Hermosa Beach.

          "FEMA urges residents in Hilary’s path to complete preparation for flooding impacts associated with the storm. Although Hilary is expected to weaken to a tropical storm before it reaches Southern California, it is forecast to bring dangerous to catastrophic flooding across portions of southern California and southern Nevada."
