          Sierra Madre Police will increase patrols to make sure Sierra Madre is safe.

          Also, residents are encouraged to:

          •  Secure outdoor furniture and umbrellas.
          • Stay home and wait out the storm, if you can.
          • If you must drive, slow down and be aware of your surroundings.
          • Avoid downed power lines and immediately report them by calling 9-1-1.
          • Check on vulnerable neighbors.

          CAL STATE LA CANCELS MONDAY CLASSES::

          From California State University, Los Angeles:

          • Classes will be canceled on Monday, August 21. This includes classes on our downtown Los Angeles campus.
          • Faculty and staff should plan to work from home on Monday. Check in with your immediate supervisor for further instructions.
          • Student services will not be offered in person on Monday, but are expected to resume on Tuesday.
