The San Gabriel Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle Area is closed due to potential heavy rain and high winds.
Due to the heavy rain, Lacy Park is closed for the remainder of today Sunday, August 20. Pending flooding conditions and safety inspections by staff, the park may be closed through Monday, August 21.
If you have to drive, do not drive over standing, running water. It takes approximately 2 feet or less of running water to sweep away the car (depending on volume of water, weight of car, etc.).
Hilary has sustained wind speeds of 70 mph. The worst of the storm is expected Sunday evening, especially in Southern California’s mountain ranges and eastern deserts, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The Writer's Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, the actors union, will cancel their scheduled pickets on Monday due to the storm. Also, the following theme parks are closed:

The San Gabriel Unified School District asks residents to keep safe and keep an eye on any announcements of potential school changes to schedules this coming Monday.
Karla Nemeth, the director of the California Department of Water Resources: "People may see spillway gates open and the release of floodwaters. That is a normal flood operations procedure."
