New evidence has emerged in connection with a September 7, 2025 officer-involved shooting, prompting authorities to open a new investigation, Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris announced.
By News Desk
According to Harris, the development comes after the release of officer-involved shooting video footage last week. Following the video’s publication, a witness came forward with additional information related to the incident.
Chief Harris said a new investigation was opened after documentation connected to the case was received on Sunday, June 14.
The officers alleged to be involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. Harris emphasized that the decision was not made solely as a matter of department policy but reflects the seriousness with which the department is treating the new information.
“When questions arise about conduct, we act,” Harris said.
Harris also stressed the importance of conducting a thorough investigation, stating that he would not rush the process at the expense of determining the truth. He pledged to be as transparent as California law permits and to share information with the community as quickly as possible as the investigation moves forward.
No additional details about the newly received evidence or the scope of the investigation were immediately released.
