The John Muir HS Mustangs won the CIF Southern Division 10 Championship Saturday night, Nov. 26, shutting out the Salesian Mustangs 21-0.

The John Muir Mustangs scored a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage on a long run. Later they scored on a long touchdown pass to lead 14-0 at the half. They scored again on a short touchdown run in the third quarter. All three points after touchdown kicks were successful.
The bleachers were full of supporters cheering them on, with alumni from many years—it’s always a great pleasure to see so many former students of mine—and current and former staff attending and an overflow/special VIP section on the ground beyond the east end zone. The Mighty Mustang Band led by alumna and PUSD music teacher Karen Klages and the legendary Alumni Drum Line boosted the spirits of the Muir faithful on a chilly evening.
Way to go Mustangs and congratulations to the Muir team and all of their coaches and supporters!
The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section is the governing body for high school athletics in most of Southern California and is the largest of the ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation.
