Monterey Park will once again usher in the spring season with its beloved Cherry Blossom Festival, returning for the 26th year to Barnes Park. The community celebration takes place Saturday, April 11, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, and continues Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

      By Melanie Hooks

Organized and coordinated entirely by community volunteers, the festival aims to create a vibrant cultural arts experience that blends learning, entertainment, and community connection. The event highlights Japanese and Japanese American traditions through performances, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Visitors can immerse themselves in cultural offerings that include traditional Japanese dance, the powerful rhythms of taiko drumming, and demonstrations of martial arts skill. Attendees may also participate in the ancient art of the tea ceremony or browse hand‑made crafts and food featuring Asian flavors.

Families will find additional attractions such as children’s games, craft activities, and a variety of cultural displays throughout the park.

Those interested in previewing the festivities can watch past performances on the Cherry Blossom Festival video available on  YouTube.
