Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) joined City of Monterey Park officials on Monday, June 22, 2026, to announce $1.75 million in federal funding for the renovation of Fire Station 61 and the reconstruction of Fire Station 63.

The funding will support the design, construction, and remodeling of Fire Station 61, as well as the reconstruction of Fire Station 63. The projects are intended to modernize the aging facilities and better equip first responders to respond to emergencies.
“This week, I was proud to present $1.75 million to renovate Fire Stations 61 and 63 in my hometown of Monterey Park,” Chu said. “With this funding, we can ensure that our brave first responders have access to high-quality workspaces that will enable them to continue protecting our community.”
Chu was joined by Monterey Park Mayor Elizabeth Yang, members of the Monterey Park City Council, and representatives from the Monterey Park Fire Department during the funding presentation.
According to city officials, the federal funds will help modernize the fire stations, improving working conditions and operational readiness for firefighters and emergency personnel serving the community.
