A memorial honoring Officer Solorio has been placed in front of the Monterey Park City Hall at 320 W. Newmark Avenue.

      By News Desk

Community members are invited to visit the site to grieve and mourn the death of Officer Gardiel Solorio who was murdered in the City of Downey on Monday, August 8, 2022.

      Chief Kelly Gordon stated:

Today and always, we remember Officer Solorio, and we all knew from the moment we met him that he had a heart for service and was going to be a great police officer.

The Solorio family has expressed sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community, staff and City Council of Monterey Park, but have asked for privacy to grieve this sudden and heartbreaking loss while they work through the planning of service arrangements.

A fundraising site has been established to help support the Solorio family.
