The City of Monterey Park is continuing to monitor the ongoing warehouse fire in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles and is coordinating with emergency management agencies to stay informed about any potential impacts on local residents.

The fire began June 17 at a large cold-storage warehouse facility in Boyle Heights and has produced significant smoke, raising air quality concerns across portions of Los Angeles County. State and local emergency declarations have been issued to support response and recovery efforts.
Although Monterey Park is not within the immediate incident area, smoky conditions continue to affect air quality throughout the region. City officials are encouraging residents to stay informed about local air quality conditions and take appropriate precautions.
N-95 Masks Available
Residents with health sensitivities may obtain N-95 masks at any Monterey Park fire station by providing proof of residency. Distribution is limited to two masks per household, while supplies last, and will continue only until 8 p.m. June 22.
Relief Sites Open
The city has also designated temporary relief sites for residents. The Langley Center will remain open until 9 p.m. June 22, while the Bruggemeyer Library will remain open until 8 p.m.
Outdoor Programs Canceled
Due to ongoing air quality concerns, all outdoor recreation programs have been canceled through June 28. Canceled events include the city’s “Let’s Kick It” Watch Party and Farmers’ Market scheduled for June 25, as well as the Independence Day event planned for June 27.
Emergency Alert Enrollment Encouraged
City officials are urging residents, businesses and community members to enroll in Monterey Park’s emergency alert system through Everbridge. The service is free and available through both the website and mobile app.
Shelter Resources Available
Shelter options in Los Angeles include City Terrace Park, 1126 N. Hazard Ave., and Pecan Recreation Center, 145 S. Pecan St. Small pets are welcome at both locations.
Residents may access resources at either shelter without checking in. Available services include food, water and protective masks. A mobile health clinic is also operating at the county’s City Terrace shelter.
Health and Safety Guidance
The city is advising residents to monitor local air quality conditions, limit outdoor activities, remain indoors when possible, and keep windows and doors closed. Individuals experiencing respiratory distress or other health concerns are encouraged to seek medical attention.
Officials said they will continue monitoring conditions and coordinating with partner agencies as the response to the Boyle Heights warehouse fire continues.
