The Monrovia Unified School District (MUSD) will celebrate student innovation and engineering achievement at its 4th Annual Femineer Summit on Monday, May 4, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Monrovia High School Event Center. More than 100 students are set to present the engineering projects they have built throughout the school year, marking the culmination of months of hands‑on learning and collaboration.

The Femineer program, which runs from October through May, brings 4th–6th grade students together after school each week to explore engineering, coding, and creative problem‑solving. Over the course of the program, students develop technical skills, build friendships, and prepare ambitious projects for the spring showcase. This year’s event marks the district’s fourth Femineer showcase, continuing a tradition of highlighting student talent and expanding STEM opportunities.
A highlight of the evening will be keynote speaker Hannah Carbone of Caltech. A former scientist and current U.S. patent agent, Carbone is expected to inspire students with her experience at the intersection of research, innovation, and intellectual property.
Within MUSD’s Femineer program, 4th and 5th graders focus on creative coding, while 6th graders design and build codable wearable technology. The program is open to all 4th–6th grade students with an interest in engineering, science, math, or technology.
Following the district showcase, MUSD students will also participate in the Cal Poly Pomona Femineer Summit on May 20, where they will share their work with peers from across the region.
The May 4 event is open to the community and celebrates the growing pipeline of young engineers developing their skills in Monrovia schools.
