A stolen vehicle connected to a regional Amber Alert out of Alhambra was located Friday evening on a quiet South Pasadena street, prompting investigators to remain on scene late into the night.

South Pasadena police confirmed the black Honda Civic found on Brent Avenue was the same vehicle connected to the disappearance of a 3-month-old boy reported missing earlier in the evening in neighboring Alhambra.
Residents living across the street from where the car was abandoned noticed the vehicle parked along the curb and alerted authorities. According to officials, the driver had parked the car on Brent Avenue and then left the area on foot before officers arrived.
Police located the infant inside the running vehicle with the air conditioning still on. The child was found safe and unharmed and was later reunited with family members after being evaluated by paramedics.
The Amber Alert was issued Friday night after Alhambra police responded to a reported car theft near Hampden Terrace and Sherwood Avenue around 5:25 pm. Authorities said the child’s mother had briefly left the black Honda Civic running with the baby secured in the backseat while she entered a nearby residence. When she returned, the car was gone.
Investigators believe the suspect, described as a man in his 30s with black hair and brown eyes, likely did not realize a baby was inside the vehicle when it was taken. The suspect remains outstanding as of Friday night.
South Pasadena Police Department personnel and investigators remained on scene on Brent Avenue until approximately 11 pm as they continued their investigation into the incident.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark pants and carrying a black backpack. Authorities say the kidnapping appears to have been random.
