The Force will be strong this Sunday at Pasadena Humane as the shelter prepares to host its second annual May the 4th Be With You adoption event, a Star Wars-themed celebration inviting fans and families to find their next furry copilot.

      By News Desk

On Sunday, May 4—widely known as “Star Wars Day”—Pasadena Humane will transform into a galaxy not so far away, complete with visiting Stormtroopers, intergalactic décor, and even an appearance by a real-life Princess Leia. Actress Vivien Lyra Blair, who portrayed young Leia Organa in Obi-Wan Kenobi, will meet with fans and adopters from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, along with members of the 501st Legion, the internationally recognized Star Wars costuming group.

In honor of the festivities, all adult animals (six months and older) will be available for adoption for just $4. The shelter is extending its hours from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm to accommodate the expected influx of visitors looking to take home a four-legged Jedi, Sith, or scruffy-looking nerf herder.

Adoptions will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, with standard screening procedures in place. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home.

Fans are encouraged to dress in costume and celebrate the saga while meeting animals looking for a new hope. Available pets can be previewed at pasadenahumane.org.
