Performances are scheduled in the Marshall Fundamental Historic Auditorium, 990 North Allen, Pasadena, CA on April 25th, April 26th, and April 27th, at 6:00 pm, with a matinee show on Saturday, April 27th, at 1:00 pm.

      By Emma Brown

Influenced by a true story, this musical tells of an Indiana high schooler named Emma Nolan, who, in an attempt to bring her girlfriend to the prom, ends up with a canceled prom and an ever-increasing amount of hate. As her story spreads on the internet, it gains the attention of a group of eccentric leftist Broadway stars who are prepared to sing and dance their way through mass homophobia and into a new generation of acceptance. Overall, The Prom has a heartwarming message of learning to find a loving community.

“A few years ago, I was lucky enough to see The Prom on Broadway. I went in knowing very little about the show and came out feeling like I had been simply surrounded by warmth. It felt like a hug. The feeling of inclusion, care, and a place for everyone is why I wanted to bring the school edition of the musical to Marshall. I hope you see the heart, love, and genuine warmth that our students bring to every second of this production and I hope you join me in believing that there is a place for everyone.” – Director Alison Garfinkel

The lead roles and actors are:

      • Emma Nolan: Olivia Barrios (12th Grade)
      • Alyssa Greene: Tova Rosenbaum (11th Grade)
      • Dee Dee Allen: Makena Magalong (12th Grade)
      • Barry Glickman: Kal-El Ramirez (9th Grade)
      • Angie Dickinson: Alique Tufenkjian (12th Grade)
      • Trent Oliver: Andrew Sweet (9th Grade)
      • Sheldon Saperstein: James Shopbell (11th Grade)
      • Tom Hawkins: Sean Ken Sutanto (12th Grade)
      • Mrs. Greene: Shellsea Ajbal (12th Grade)

Pre-sale tickets are $10, and tickets at the door cost $15. You can purchase from a cast member or buy tickets online at at this link.

Emma Brown is a Marshall Fundamental 10th-grade student. She is the Assistant Director of the musical production of “The Prom”, School Edition. She has been in the Drama Club since 7th grade.
