Calling all Marshall Jazz fans! John Marshall’s critically acclaimed 28-member high-school Jazz Band will be recording their very own 6-song album at the Musician’s Institute on March 27th and 28th, 2019.

Marshall Fundamental Secondary School has announced that its very own Jazz Band has been given the opportunity to record their own album at the Musician’s Institute, a music college located in Hollywood. The recording will take place in Studio A , the studio typically used for full live bands and contains a 24 I/O.
The album will consist of six different songs, including favorites such as “Come Fly With Me”, “Spain”, “Fever”, “Crunchy Frog”, “St. Thomas”, and “The Chicken”. All songs will be available in both CD and mp3 form, and the album cover will be designed by one of the Jazz Band students.

Marshall Fundamental School is a public school in the Pasadena Unified School District serving students in grades six through twelve. U.S News and World Report named it a 2018 Silver Medalist Best High School. The State of California, State Superintendent Torlakson, and Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye awarded Marshall Fundamental the Civic Learning Award of Excellence in 2018, and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) name Principal Mark Anderson PhD the State of California Secondary Principal of the Year in 2018. The Marshall Jazz Band has performed at several venues including the viewing the floats at a Tournament of Roses event, the City of Pasadena Police Department Luncheon, and earned the winning Best Solo and Best Performance at the Pasadena Unified School District Band event.
