At approximately 11:31 pm on July 2, South Pasadena Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a Cadillac DTS for traffic violations in the 2000 block of Alhambra Road. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jared Wilson of Los Angeles, refused to roll down his windows, claiming they were inoperative. He also declined to open the door or exit the vehicle when ordered by officers.
After repeated attempts, officers were able to open the vehicle door and safely remove Wilson from the car. During the process, officers discovered Wilson had been sitting on a loaded semi-automatic handgun in an apparent attempt to conceal it.
Wilson, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked at the Pasadena City Jail on multiple firearm-related charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and being a felon in possession of both a firearm and ammunition.
“The officers involved employed exemplary tactics, communication, and de-escalation techniques. Their professionalism and reliance on training helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating into a violent encounter,” said South Pasadena Police Chief Brian Solinsky.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the South Pasadena Police Department at (626) 403-7265. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
