On Tuesday, June 1st, The Keep LA Housed Coalition, a group of community-based organizations, legal advocates and tenants in Los Angeles County, held a press conference to urge City and County elected officials to not wait for the State and to take action now to relieve the devastating $1.3 billion in rent debt crushing more than 293,245 households in Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles County and City Council COVID-19 eviction moratorium protections are set to expire on June 30, which places many families at risk of losing their homes.
The Keep LA Housed Campaign demanded City and County officials to use governmental powers to forgive all remaining rent debt and strengthen tenant protections to ensure a debt-free recovery for working families.
