A long-standing local family foundation has donated $72,000 to the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Foundation to support Altadena small businesses affected by the Eaton Fire earlier this year. The generous gift will fund mini-grants to help eligible businesses recover and reopen.

The anonymous foundation, described as a well-known charitable organization in the community, requested that its name remain undisclosed to keep the focus on those in need.

“The well-known local family that oversees the foundation wished to remain anonymous. They wanted the focus to remain on those in need,” said Pasadena Chamber Foundation Executive Director Paul Little. “They were very specific that the funds go directly to support Altadena businesses impacted by the Eaton Fire.”

Grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 will be available to small businesses located in the 91001 ZIP code, or those that were located there as of January 6, 2025. A Pasadena Chamber Foundation committee will review applications and distribute funds based on financial need and the proposed use of the grant. The grants can be used to cover relocation expenses or other costs incurred during the reopening process.

This new donation nearly doubles the amount of aid available, following an earlier contribution from SoCalGas in June also designated for Altadena recovery.

“We are so grateful to the family for donating to continue the Foundation’s effort to help those in need after this horrific fire,” said Little. “This generous donation complements the grant we received from SoCalGas and expands the support we can offer.”

Businesses interested in applying can find the application at pasadenachamberfoundation.org.
