LitFest in the Dena 2024 continues its focus on writers and book lovers on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at the Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena.

      By News Desk

Last year, approximately 200 authors and several thousand attendees gathered to discuss books that changed the world, their communities, and their lives. This year’s festival theme Books that made the Neighborhood will look at how neighborhoods, real or fictitious, bestow identity and give us a way of seeing things-of seeing the world. The literary event is free-of-charge to the public.

Guest authors will engage their audiences in panel discussions, workshops, readings and many other literary activities over the weekend. Given the theme, Books that made the Neighborhood, libraries and bookstores that serve as local gathering places will participate for the first time on their own panels. Food trucks will also be available throughout the weekend.

A special opening night reception will be held on Friday, May 3 featuring ‘A Conversation with Nikki High,’ founder and owner of Octavia’s Bookshelf, which is dedicated to science fiction writer Octavia Butler and based in her hometown of Pasadena.
